Luminary American Pianist Leon Fleisher Has Passed Away – Age 92 [RIP]

Luminary American pianist and pedagogue Leon Fleisher has passed away in Baltimore, from cancer – aged 92.

A former 1st prize winner at the Queen Elisabeth International Piano Competition, at the height of his career, Mr Fleisher suffered from a debilitating injury to his right hand – before going on to continue performing internationally with just his left hand.

He served long term teaching positions on the faculty at the Peabody Institute of Music, Curtis Institute of Music and the Royal Conservatory of Music’s Glenn Gould School.

Our condolences are with Mr Fleisher’s family, friends and colleagues.
