American Violinist & Pedagogue Louis Persinger Died On This Day in 1966 [ON-THIS-DAY]

American violinist, pianist and pedagogue Louis Persinger died on this day in 1966 – aged 79. 

A protégé of Hans Becker, Eugène Ysaÿe and Jacques Thibaud, he served as Concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic, Royal Opera Orchestra Brussels and the San Francisco Symphony – and held a teaching position on faculty at New York’s Juilliard School. 

His famed students included: Yehudi Menuhin, Ruggiero Ricci & Isaac Stern
